Welcome to the
Toddler Room! Whether your child is joining us from the
Infant Room or new to our center, we are delighted to be a part
of your child’s education.
We follow the
guidelines of the nationally recognized Creative Curriculum for
Infants and Toddlers. Please see the attached letter for
more information regarding the curriculum in the Toddler Room.
We will assist
you in weaning your child from the pacifier. At this age,
pacifiers hinder language development. We prefer to keep
the pacifier in the cubby during the day and use it only as a
comfort item during nap. Please be sure it is clearly
marked with your child’s initials. Also, we use sipper
cups and transition children to regular cups as dexterity
improves.
New parents
often find the following information helpful:
o
Each child has a hanging file located near the door. In it
you will find billing statements, artwork, book order forms,
parent letter, etc. Please be sure to check this daily.
o
A daily report will be made available to your with information
regarding your child’s meals, diaper changes, nap, and other
activities.
o
Each child has a storage box for a full extra set of clothing
(spills and accidents do happen). Please be sure to
replace this outfit the next day.
o
It is very important to label everything you bring into the
center with your child’s name.
o
It is helpful if you call us when your child will not be in
attendance.
o
Be sure to read our “Parent Information Board” daily for new
information.
o
Please bring in a blanket and a small pillow to be used during
quiet time. These items will need to be taken home each
Friday for laundering.
o
Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the
weather. We will be going outside each day, weather
permitting. Don’t forget a coat, hat, gloves and boots.
o
Toddlers have a very difficult time sharing things, and for this
reason we respectfully request that you do not bring any toys
into the classroom from home. The only exception is a soft
“lovey,” such as a stuffed animal that can be used during
naptime and in times when extra comfort is needed.
If you have
any questions or concerns, please feel free to bring them to the
teacher’s attention or to the attention of the Director at any
time. |
