Welcome to
Preschool! Whether your child is joining us from the
Toddler Room or new to our center, we are delighted to be a part
of your child’s education.
The Preschool
program is structured around learning centers. More
information about these centers is included in this packet.
We follow a weekly calendar as the children rotate every
half-hour to the different learning centers. We have Show
and Tell Fridays. Finally, there are extra activities that
your child may participate in such as Gymnastics,
Stretch-N-Grow, and swimming.
One of our
goals in the Preschool Room is teaching your child to be
independent. This will be accomplished through tasks such
as putting toys away, dressing themselves, and washing their
hands. Another main goal is socialization with other
children. We will work on listening to others, helping our
friends, manners, following directions, taking turns, and group
activities.
New parents
often find the following information helpful:
o
Each child has a hanging file located near the door. In it
you will find billing statements, artwork, book order forms,
parent letter, etc. Please be sure to check this daily.
o
Each child has a storage box in the coatroom for a full extra
set of clothing (spills and accidents do happen). Please
be sure to replace this outfit the next day.
o
It is very important to label everything you bring into the
center with your child’s name.
o
It is helpful if you call us when your child will not be in
attendance.
o
Be sure to read our “Parent Information Board” daily for new
information. We will also provide you with a weekly sheet
in your child’s folder to let you know what your child did
during the week.
o
Please bring in a blanket and a small pillow to be used during
quiet time. These items will need to be taken home each
Friday for laundering.
o
Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the
weather. We will be going outside each day, weather
permitting. Don’t forget a coat, hat, gloves and boots.
o
Toys brought from home often get lost or broken, and for this
reason we respectfully request that you do not bring any toys
into the classroom from home.
If you have
any questions or concerns, please feel free to bring them to the
teacher’s attention or to the attention of the Director at any
time.
